What are dental cavities?
Tooth decay is a dental condition caused by the progressive deterioration of the enamel and internal structures of the tooth. Tooth decay is the most common dental condition worldwide. It occurs when bacteria in the oral cavity attack the surface of the tooth. These bacteria break down food debris, producing acids that attack the tooth enamel. Once it appears, tooth decay does not disappear, and if not treated in time or properly, it can progress rapidly and affect the structure of the natural tooth until it is completely lost.
Types of cavities:
Class I carious lesions:
Incipient WHITE carious lesions (caused by enamel demineralization), treatable WITHOUT REMOVING DENTAL ENAMEL AND WITHOUT PAIN, with the help of the innovative ICON technology.
Incipient carious lesions (on the occlusal surfaces of the teeth).
Class II carious lesions (interdental caries);
Class III carious lesions (frontal caries without restoration of the incisal angle);
Class IV carious lesions (frontal caries with restoration of the incisal angle);
Class V carious lesions (caries in the gingival area);
MOD carious lesions (MESIO-OCCLUSO-DISTAL caries);
How does the treatment of dental caries proceed at Dental Sense?
At Dental Sense, dental caries treatment is carried out with an emphasis on patient comfort and the use of modern technologies for optimal results. The process begins with a detailed consultation, accompanied by diagnostic imaging (dental x-ray) to assess the degree of tooth damage. For accurate diagnosis of carious lesions, we use modern caries detection techniques, such as LUMINDEX 3 DENTMATE, a medical LED device that helps us quickly and accurately identify caries and dental fractures.
In the first stage of treatment, the affected tooth is isolated using a dental dam, an essential tool that ensures a clean and dry working field, preventing contamination. The affected enamel and dentin are removed, and the cleaned area is then restored with high-quality composite material, which perfectly imitates the natural appearance of the tooth. The entire process is performed under the magnification of dental loupes for increased precision and under the effect of local anesthesia, to eliminate any discomfort.
